The best time to visit Kruger is during the Dry season which is from May to September. During the Dry season, animals congregate around waterholes and rivers making game-viewing a pleasure. This is also known as the low season for tourism, except during the South African school holidays.
May through September is the winter, so the mornings and nights are cold. May and September are the best safari months because it is less cold in the mornings and evenings and offers mildly warm days.
Wildlife viewing is exceptional from July through September, as the trees have lost all leaves and the grass is down, making visibility better and thus easier to spot game. There is also little to no rain in these winter months.
Between October and May, the Kruger area undergoes a dramatic transformation, from brown and drab to green and lush. After the first rains, usually mid-October, the scenery turns green, and all looks fresh.
Mid-October is the best time for bird watching, and migratory birds are present. From mid-November, the birthing season starts.
Should you encounter rain, the rains are mostly short afternoon or evening showers and seldom really interfere with your trip.
Wildlife viewing, especially trying to spot leopard and lion, can be slower at times during the greener lush season since the bush is thicker during this period.
It gets very hot in December, January and February, and parks get crowded during the South African school holidays. The better months for travel during the "Green Season" are definitely October, November, March and April. You can expect mild mornings and warm to hot days.
Cape Town enjoys a temperate climate with warm, dry conditions from October to April and temperatures peak between December and February, which is the most popular time for a Cape Town beach holiday. Expect busy beaches, a vibrant nightlife and gloriously sunny festive cheer.
Cape Towns fierce south-easter wind blows hard during this time, occasionally clearing the beaches and blanketing Table Mountain in cloud.
By February the wind calms, and most visitors head home, making late January to April absolutely fantastic expect uncrowded world class beaches and less wind.
Cape Town experiences winter rainfall (June to August) and a hot, dry summer. The Garden Route, on the other hand, can experience rain at any time of year.
The best time for a Cape Town foodie safari is from late June to August. The fireside-friendly, rainy days of winter make the most of vibrant indoor markets, easy bookings at the citys famous eateries and regular crisp, clear days for wine tasting, cycling and hiking.
The best time for a whale watching holiday is from July to October when migratory southern right whales arrive along the coastline, wildflowers bloom on the West Coast, and the weather warms up.
Each departure is guaranteed.

Safari vehicles are designed so that each seated passenger has an opening window. Open safari game viewing vehicles are also designed so that you will have good all-round visibility, although the rear part of the vehicle is closed to lessen the dust entering the vehicle while driving on dirt roads. The large open window and roof areas offer good visibility and promote photographic opportunities, while being able to close for unseasonal rainy weather en-route.
